Sociology : A Down to Earth Approach

This is a theoretical introduction to sociology, with themes of diversity and "down to earth" sociology. Enhancing the diversity themes are two special boxes, "Perspectives: Cultural Diversity Around the World", and "Perspectives: Cultural Diversity in US Society". Global issues are covered throughout, especially in the chapters on the economy, family, religion, politics, population and urbanization, race and ethnicity. The first stratification chapter has a global emphasis, as does the final chapter on the environment, technology and social change. The theme is reinforced through the use of CNN videos.
